Knowledge Management – A Sociopragmatic Approach

Having its roots in fields like information systems research, business administration and organization theory, knowledge management (KM) research is still far from having a consensus on its theoretical presuppositions – a thesis supported by the varying notions of knowledge found in the field. Based on a framework for the conceptualization of KM, we propose a sociopragmatic-constructivistic approach for KM which assumes knowledge to be neither an entity nor purely conceived, but views it as specific to human communities and as a result of shared common practice.
